- Student Project in Cooperation with Signotec -
Signature tablets are important devices for industries that work with legally binding documents. Clients who purchase these tablets need secure and compliant systems for proper authentication. Signotec is one of the well-respected brands that provide software and hardware used for e-signatures. Often working closely with international clients, Signotec tries to find specific solutions for different market requirements. Signature tablets are regularly used in combination with camera verification, payment options, and various other scanners. For those special cases, manufacturing a tablet in a way in which various features could be included or left out in the process would reduce costs and product waste. That is the core idea of this project. The idea and also the various hardware parts and screen size are provided by Signotec.
Contracts are interesting. They hold a very significant place in our society but are also handled in many ways. Sometimes they are very impersonal, dealing only with financial matters; sometimes they are very personal. They may be handled very secretively or be passed around a whole room for everyone to see. But one thing remains important: there needs to be a lot of trust between the contractor and the contractee.
I believe a good way to provide trust is to give someone their own time and space. Oftentimes, the experience of signature tablets is fully controlled by the contractor. They are firmly planted on the table, at an uncomfortable reading angle. The contractee has to read and sign their document in an inflexible position, all the while potentially under the watchful eye of the contractor. Providing more control to balance this relationship is key.
