Before the Honda NSX the idea of a Japanese super car already existed. The Nissan MID4 was one of those unrealized visions. Clearly inspired by European mid-engined sports cars, the MIDs and especially the MID-II has that dynamic and organically futurist look, that really set it apart from other Japanese cars. Sadly the car never made it to production. In this project, I have reconceptualized the MID for the modern day.

The MID4-II has a truly great side profile. Beltline, shoulder line and the vent line up, creating a dynamic ribbon-like shape that works well inside the A-line. This together with the soft flowing volumes and its subtle dome hood are essential to the MID's identity.

- 3D-SKETCH IN VR -

Gravity Sketch is a great way to bring my sketches into 3D space, while working with the real scale and proportions in VR. Because working with SUB-D is quite fast, I am still able to iterate and explore. In this case, especially the back end has gone through some changes. The model was then directly brought to Alias as a reference for more refined surfacing.
